A month in the media – February 2025

Key topics generating media interest included funding for local roads projects, the Border Target Operating Model, and the government’s announcement on the Lower Thames Crossing project and expansion of Heathrow Airport.

Between 1 and 25 February 2025, 154 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for 770 million people to see Logistics UK’s views.

Roads funding

After the government announced £90 million of funding for road schemes across England, Logistics UK’s comments were widely published in the media, including on the Press Association, GB News and Yahoo! News UK & Ireland websites.

Border Target Operating Model

An interview was negotiated with LBC News regarding the Border Target Operating Model and trade issues, and Logistics UK’s comments were published widely in the online and print media.

Chancellor’s infrastructure announcement

Following the Chancellor’s speech giving government backing for the Lower Thames Crossing project, Logistics UK’s comments were published by The Sun.

US tariffs

Following President Trump’s comments on imposing tariffs, Logistics UK was widely quoted in the national media, including the Telegraph, Yahoo! News, MSN and AOL websites.

The month ahead

The media team will continue to raise awareness of members’ opinions on issues affecting the sector, including decarbonisation and the Chancellor’s Spring Statement. The team will continue to focus on the industry’s skills shortages, promoting the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity and highlighting the need for improved driver facilities. Plans are under way for the promotion of Logistics UK’s exciting 2025 events programme, including Supply Chain Resilience, Fleet Engineer and the Logistics UK Annual Conference, a new flagship event taking place in London on 4 June.
