A month in the media – April 2026

April 30, 2026
3 min read

The Middle East conflict and its effects on supply chains have dominated headlines during April, with the press office team providing comment on that and a wide variety of other issues to ensure awareness of its members’ views continues to resonate with opinion formers, politicians and the media.

Media coverage was also generated about the increase in fuel prices, as well as a proactive campaign about Easter deliveries. Between 25 March and 22 April 2026, 524 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for 48 million people to learn Logistics UK’s point of view on the topics under debate.

Middle East conflict

Numerous media interviews were placed during the month regarding the Middle East conflict and its effect on supply chains, and fuel prices in particular, with outlets including BBC Breakfast, as well as numerous interviews on LBC News, and Global Radio stations around the country. Interviews were also placed on BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC Radio Solent.

Easter deliveries

An interview which took place on BBC Radio 5 Live regarding the transport of Easter treats as part of the “Nothing Moves Without Logistics” campaign was broadcast over 100 times on BBC radio stations throughout the country over the Easter weekend, and a separate interview was negotiated on BBC Radio Somerset on the same subject.

The month ahead

During May the media team will continue to raise awareness of members’ opinions on topics affecting the sector, including the continuing effects of the Middle East conflict on supply chains, trade and border issues, and decarbonisation.

The team will continue to highlight the industry’s skills shortages, promoting the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity and Logistics UK’s Best Truckstop of the Year 2026 campaign, which draws attention to the need for better facilities for all, for which almost 100 nominations have already been received.

We will also continue to promote Logistics UK’s 2026 events programme and its online wellbeing hub, THRIVE.

Have you got a story?

If you are keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from skills shortages to fuel costs, urban restrictions to future logistics – or to highlight some of the great work your organisation is doing, we would love to hear from you as journalists are always keen to hear from those affected personally by the issues we are raising with them.

We are also keen to publicise those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise.

And as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press.

Please contact the media team at [email protected] – we look forward to hearing from you.
