Renault launches Trafic Van E-Tech

The new Renault Trafic Van E-Tech marks the fourth generation of an LCV that was first launched in 1980 and represents the latest evolution.

It is engineered on an all-electric skateboard platform designed to optimise load capacity in relation to footprint, with a minimal front overhang and rear-mounted powertrain.

The L1 body style has a load capacity of 5.1m3 and the L2 has a load capacity of 5.8m3.

The E-Tech will come with two batteries available: for drivers needing more mileage, the long-range battery deliveries a maximum range of approximately 450km WLTP, which will be available at launch, and for those operating predominantly in cities will have access to the urban range battery, with a range of almost 350km WLTP, not yet available.

These batteries provide 800V fast-charging technology which Renault says allows a battery to be charged from 15% to 80% in around 20 minutes, recovering 260km in range.

Other notable features include predictive maintenance which will allow the driver to track the wear of key components in real time using remote diagnostics, an onboard Safety Coach which utilises sensors and AI to provide a safety score out of 100 with pointers on how the driver can improve, and a brand-new driver identification service designed for fleets, generating QR codes on the screen so the drivers can identify themselves in vehicles equipped with OpenR evo.

Renault is aiming to include over 23% of recycled materials close to levels achieved with other electric vehicles, such as the 26% level in the R4 E-Tech electric. Its strategy is to include 33% of recycled materials by weight in its vehicles by 2030.

The Trafic Van E-Tech is expected to arrive on roads by late 2026.
