Roll up, roll up, get your Logistics UK apprenticeships

This National Apprenticeship Week (9-15 February) is an annual celebration of the positive impact apprenticeships have on people, communities and businesses.

It’s also an opportunity to showcase the variety of opportunities available in the logistics sector to young people.

Skills shortages are a serious and persistent problem for the sector but fostering positive perceptions and awareness among young people is a crucial step towards addressing this.

Logistics UK is a specialist, government-approved apprenticeship provider with proven expertise in the industry and the capabilities to offer employers expert advice about apprenticeship funding and utilising the levy.

Its partnership with Loughborough College Group’s Stephenson College offers apprenticeships in vehicle maintenance and repair, providing candidates with the best possible training to begin their careers in heavy vehicle maintenance.

It has also provided evidence to the Transport Committee’s new report on skills for transport manufacturing, which rightly recognises that transport manufacturing relies on the supply chains to support it.

Increased flexibility over how Apprenticeship Levy funding can be used, so that it can be spent effectively.

Skills and training standards to keep pace with technological change, recognising that apprenticeship and technical education standards can be outdated and do not always meet employers’ current needs.
