Campaign highlight – February 2026

As part of the Northern Ireland Business Stakeholder Group, Logistics UK travelled to Brussels to share perspectives on the implementation of the Windsor Framework, provide evidence from businesses operating under the arrangements and outline business priorities for the UK-EU relationship.

Encouraged to hear that progress is being made on the SPS agreement negotiations, Logistics UK welcomed the work that is ongoing to link the UK and EU Emissions Trading Scheme .

The visit included speaking with the Co-Chairs of the Specialised Committee and discussions covered how the Windsor Framework is operating and where improvements can be made.

With the Windsor Framework being critical to the functioning of trade for Northern Ireland, its effective implementation is dependent on decisions reflecting operational realities and helping to support economic growth.

Logistics UK raised how logistics underpins Northern Ireland trade and there was widespread support amongst delegates that there is a need for greater customs collaboration to alleviate trade friction and reduce costs.

With numerous ongoing issues around trade, the business group will continue to represent members and work with stakeholders to call for reduced border friction.
