More than 150,000 logistics workers engage with FTA Logistics Helps Logistics campaign
Tuesday 31 March 2020
FTA, the business organisation representing the logistics sector, has launched #LogisticsHelpsLogistics, a social media campaign to help businesses keep goods and services flowing, by filling shortfalls of staff or identifying vehicles with capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. By posting jobs or requirements for support on social media, using the campaign hashtag, more than 150,000 logistics workers and business owners have already engaged with the campaign on social media; more than 831,000 individuals in the sector have already been reached in the first five days of the campaign.
Elizabeth de Jong, Policy Director at FTA, comments: “The British public is relying on the logistics sector to keep supermarkets and other essential retailers stocked with food, medicines, hygiene products and other basic items throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as keeping loads moving for industry. As such, we are determined to do everything possible to keep goods moving across the UK. Through the #LogisticsHelpsLogistics campaign, FTA is linking businesses in need of logistics staff with available workers. I would like to encourage everyone to get involved in the campaign – whether it is just by retweeting or sharing content – so we can work together as an industry to navigate the challenging times ahead.”
#LogisticsHelpsLogistics is supported by the Department for Transport and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. If a business requires drivers, warehouse operators or transport managers, they should post their vacancies using the hashtag; similarly, anyone looking for work should use the hashtag to advertise their availability.

Efficient logistics is vital to keep the UK trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. FTA is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, supporting, shaping and standing up for safe and efficient logistics. We are the only business group in the UK that represents all of logistics, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
