Compliance update

Over 2022 and 2023 there have been some major changes to a number of compliance documents (GTMR, Load Security Code of Practice, Categorisation for Defects, etc).  In this session Logistics UK will explain what those changes are and what plans you need to have in place to stay compliant.  Additionally, we will be looking at the outcomes of enforcement interventions, the outcomes and what you can do to minimise being on the receiving end.

Brigade’s session will focus on latest regulatory updates including DVS and GSR. The presentation will focus on changes, issues and what to look for with equipment suppliers.

 

Commercial Vehicles Workshop Rating Scheme introduction and benefits

Following of from Transport Manager 2022, Logistics UK’s Engineering Forums have been working on an initiative to provide a clearer understanding to Transport Managers on how they can rate commercial workshops. In this session we will explain the concent, how it is aimed specifically to help TMs and what actions TMs can do to pursue this initiative.

Load security incidents: Managing the fallout

Load security in the transport industry has never been under greater scrutiny following a recent high-profile Coroner’s Inquest and subsequent revisions to the DVSA load security guidance. In this talk, specialist transport solicitor Chris Powell will be exploring these developments and the legal proceedings that can follow in the aftermath of a load security incident. The talk will involve real-life scenarios and will focus on what transport managers can be doing to protect themselves and their employer should the worst ever happen.

Traffic Commissioners use Public Inquiries to call in operators, Transport Managers and drivers to hold them to account for their actions. This session will look at actions taken, or not, by company directors and transport managers and will offer advice on what could be done to avoid reaching this situation by asking the question 'What brought you here?'.

 

Managing the challenge of introducing alternative fuels into your operations

Interest in low carbon and alternative fuels is increasing as more stringent carbon reporting rules came into effect this year across the supply chain. This session will address what challenges operators around the UK who have adopted alternative fuels into their operations are facing and what difference the use of these fuels makes to logistics businesses’ carbon footprint.

 

Metropolitan Police: Transport Professionals Talk

The Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Unit will speak about the multi award winning Transport Professionals Talk which provides an overview of the Policing Response to incidents involving Commercial Vehicles and at the same time dispels some of the myths that are common in the industry. There is a strong focus on supporting our transport professionals including touching the very difficult subject of using commercial vehicles as a means of suicide and supporting drivers mental health and well-being.
