Logistics UK’s response to HMT’s announcement of £66m transport boost for Scotland
Speaking in response to the announcement of a £66 million transport boost for Scotland by His Majesty’s Treasury, Jonathan Walker, Head of Infrastructure and Planning Policy at business group Logistics UK said:
“Strengthening the transport links between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and local connections in Scotland, has long been a priority for Logistics UK’s members, which move all the goods that the economy relies upon, so news of this investment will be welcomed. Logistics businesses rely on strong transport links between ports on both sides of the Irish Sea to ensure the seamless delivery of goods between business and consumers, and investment on the critical A75 route would reinforce supply chain links across the country, which is to be welcomed.”
Logistics UK is one of the UK’s leading business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With decarbonisation, Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
