Logistics UK reacts to scrapping of proposed Stonehenge tunnel scheme
Speaking today after the announcement that the proposed Stonehenge tunnel development is to be cancelled, Michelle Gardner, Deputy Policy Director at Logistics UK said:
“Today’s news of the scrapping of the proposed Stonehenge tunnel is disappointing for all the logistics operators currently delayed on the A303. It is now imperative that an alternative route is identified which will enable vital logistics deliveries to be made to and from the West Country without disturbing the rural roads network across the area.”
The Department for Transport (DfT) today revoked the development consent order (DCO) for a tunnel, two junctions and a northern bypass, saying it was doing so under “exceptional circumstances”.
