Logistics UK raises over £1,000 in The Great Tommy Sleep Out

This week (25 March) a group of Logistics UK colleagues swapped their heated Tunbridge Wells office for a night under the stars as they bedded down outside for The Great Tommy Sleep Out, the nationwide challenge that raises money and awareness for homeless UK veterans. In doing so, they smashed their fundraising target, raising over £1,000 to help former service personnel who have fallen on hard times.

The yearly event is organised by the Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE), and the Logistics UK team has so far raised £1,040 for the charity to support its activities helping veterans who are facing physical and mental health challenges rebuild their lives.

Logistics UK’s Sales Ledger Manager Ian Pickering, who organised the event, said: “As an ex-soldier, this charity’s raison d’être is very close to my heart. This was our fourth year fundraising for a wonderful cause.

“Being part of a group of likeminded people who came together to support the RBVE was fantastic, but it was also an eye-opening experience about what homeless veterans have to face every day. Some of the teams’ kit wasn’t quite rated to a zero-degree environment and so they found it quite a cold night, out on the deck.  However, we all battled on, despite the frost on our sleeping bags when we woke up.

“Thank you to everyone involved — those who braved the sleep out, those who donated and the Logistics UK teams that supported behind the scenes including facilities, comms, HR and the directors. We’ll see you all again next year — and don’t forget your beanies!”

The Logistics UK team that took part in the challenge was: Craig Southwick, Ewan Thomas, Josh Chantler, Lou Manning, Daniel Trevor, Ian Pickering, Natalie Day and Vic Elms.
