Logistics UK employee scores big through CSR days

Amidst a brief lull in the football season, business group Logistics UK, based in Tunbridge Wells, is celebrating the role grassroots football plays in helping young people develop skills for life. 

Earlier this summer, Logistics UK’s Sponsorship and Engagement Manager Dom Roberjot travelled to Gothenburg, Sweden, to support two Learn Play Achieve (LPA) Soccer Academy UK teams compete in the Gothia Cup. The event attracts almost 2000 teams from 80 nations every year, and is the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament.  

Mr Roberjot’s support of the LPA teams during the tournament was made possible thanks to Logistics UK’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which gives its employees two days of paid volunteering leave every year to support charitable and community initiatives. 

Having previously attended the tournament when his son represented LPA in 2024, Dom returned this year to provide help as team steward, acting as a liaison between players, coaches, parents, tournament officials and opposition.  

He said: “This is the second time I’ve been to the Gothia Cup and the sheer size and scale of this very special event is incredible. Working for a logistics trade association, I have some awareness of what it takes to organise such large events but seeing it in operation is impressive. 

“1,964 teams from around 80 nations played almost 5,000 matches in the space of a week. It demonstrated what a positive force football can be, and the opening ceremony was a wonderful thing to witness.” 

“One of the reasons I love this event is because it’s about so much more than football,” he added. “You get to witness young people grow in the space of a week, making friends with people from all over the world and learning life skills including communication, leadership, teamwork and resilience. 

“The memories the players have created and the skills they have developed will last a lifetime.”
