MHCLG – Proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework and other changes to the planning system

This consultation is seeking views on the proposed approach to revising the NPPF. It also seeks views on a series of wider national planning policy reforms. Released 30/07/2024 – closes 24/09/2024.

DfI – Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) Consultation – Changing the exhaust emissions test for light vehicles with a modern diesel engine

This consultation seeks your views on a proposal to change the annual roadworthiness test (MOT test) by introducing an alternative exhaust emissions test for cars and light goods vehicles registered from January 2013 and fitted with a modern diesel engine. Released 24/07/2024 – closes 18/09/2024.

DfT sought evidence to help identify areas of potential change to how historic, classic, rebuilt and electrically converted vehicles are registered with DVLA. Released 09/05/2024 – closed 04/07/2024.

In a recent public inquiry, the Senior Traffic Commissioner, Richard Turfitt, heard a case regarding the school transport vehicles operated by North Lanarkshire Council under section 19 of the Transport Act 1985. The council operates using 35 of these permits.

12/07/2024 – TC – New Traffic Commissioner appointed

Following a fair and open recruitment campaign, David Mullan was appointed as a Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain and will be deployed by the Senior Traffic Commissioner to the North Western traffic area. He will start in the role on 19 August 2024.
