Round table: The skills needs of the logistics sector Wednesday 5 February 2025

In December, Logistics UK attended a Skills England roundtable hosted by the Midlands and Yorkshire Combined Authorities. As one of the Industrial Strategy’s growth-driving sectors, the topic of discussion was Advanced Manufacturing. We are also aware that a Skills England report has been slated for later this year to share findings from various roundtables on the skills needs of the growth-driving sectors.

After the publication of the second report, Logistics UK is urging Skills England to put the logistics sector in scope for discussion, most notably to be able to gather thoughts on which logistics training courses and qualifications should be created and/or funded as part of the Growth and Skills Levy, in light of current and future shortages. With this in mind, we convened a roundtable to consider the same questions shared at the Advanced Manufacturing roundtable.
