Phil Roe, President, Logistics UK

Phil joined Logistics UK as President in April 2022 after 5 years as a non-executive Director. Prior to joining he was a board Director at DHL Supply Chain which was the culmination of his 35 year career with DHL and XPO. He is also a non-executive Director and trustee at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport

Phil has substantial experience of supply chain leadership across multiple customers, sectors and geographies, with 35 years’ experience in a variety of senior leadership roles within operations and functional areas. These include Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer and  Chief Customer Officer and Strategy Director.

 

Nusrat Ghani, Minister of State, Department for Business and Trade

Nusrat Ghani MP, Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade, Minister of State for the Investment Security Unit, and Minister for Industry and Economic Security
 
Nusrat Ghani was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade and Minister of State responsible for the Investment Security Unit at the Cabinet Office in February 2023. She is responsible for global supply chains, economic security, maritime and advanced manufacturing, amongst other policy areas. With these roles, Nusrat Ghani led the development of the world’s first Critical Imports and Supply Chains Strategy, which sets out priority actions for building resilient supply chains.   
 
Prior to the formation of the Department for Business and Trade she was Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (October 2022 – February 2023). Previously she was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport, covering maritime amongst other areas (January 2018 – February 2020). Before that, Nusrat Ghani was a Government Whip.   
 
Nusrat Ghani was elected as MP for Wealden at the 2015 general election. Before beginning her career in politics, she worked for the charities Age UK and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and later for the BBC World Service.

 

James Hookham, Director, Global Shippers Forum

James Hookham is the Secretary General and a Director of the Global Shippers Forum, the voice of cargo owners in international supply chains. He is a graduate in Environmental Science from the University of Bradford and completed a Masters degree in the safe transport of dangerous goods at the University of Manchester. Until 2020 James was Deputy Chief Executive of the Freight Transport Association (now Logistics UK) and has held numerous positions on UK, EU and global transport and logistics advisory bodies.

Darren is the ARUP global logistics and freight leader.  A director with 30 years’ experience across all modes of transport, he has developed the freight strategies for central government, such as Dubai and Ireland, local government, such as London and Paris, and worked with a wide range of private sector organisations to help them improve and decarbonise their logistics operations, including construction activities, retailers, manufacturers and logistics operators.  He has led and delivered projects across the world and brings an international understanding of the freight sector and best practice.      

 

Tim Lawrence, Director of Digital Supply Chain, Digital Catapult

Tim is Director of Digital Supply Chain at Digital Catapult leading a £30m programme to build a Digital Supply Chain Hub to accelerating digital innovation in Supply Chains.  

Tim has extensive experience in improving global supply chains working within the Automotive, Consumer Goods, Aerospace, Defence, Construction, Life Science and Industrial Sectors. His experience includes 25 years in consultancy, leading companies to deliver transformation in supply chains from strategy to performance improvement and digital.
